👋 I am Marisa Martin

Marisa received her 200-hour Vinyasa certification from Yoga Vida, where she also completed a five month intensive mentorship program. She went on to continue her studies in Trauma Sensitivity, Restorative Yoga, and the fundamentals of Iyengar Yoga, and continues to study anatomy on a regular basis. She is further informed by her BFA in Dance from Fordham University/The Alvin Ailey School and long-time dance career, which has spanned North and Central America, Europe, and Asia. 

Marisa’s teaching has been described as intuitive, compassionate, creative, and intelligent. She seeks to offer an environment that is supportive, warm, and welcoming to all. Marisa’s priority is to be fully present with her students in order to remain open to the needs of each moment. Classes are taught at a moderate pace to allow for mindfulness and depth of understanding coupled with the joy of flowing movement. Options, modifications, and personalized feedback are offered to help individuals choose what suits their own needs on any given day. All are encouraged to explore, trust that they are their own best teachers, and revel in the practices of self-study, self-healing, and self-love. Her students report a large variety of physical benefits, including improved ease and breadth of movement, strength, and stamina, as well as a greater sense of calm, grounding, and mental clarity in their daily lives. Marisa teaches with the belief that our practice, whether new or long-established, can be used as an opportunity to look deeply inwards and, in turn, move out into the world leading from a more centered, compassionate place.
