Lucy Wu

I took my first yoga class in 2015 when I was living in Houston. I initially wanted a space to take my mind off of my desk job, but I walked out of that first class wanting more. After completing 40 Days to Personal Revolution on three different occasions and witnessing one of my best friend’s journey into teaching yoga, I decided to enroll in Big Power Yoga’s Teacher Empowerment Program, a 200-hour teacher training based in the Baptiste Methodology of yoga teaching. Following graduation, I assisted and taught once a week for a few months at Big Power before I moved to Austin. I am forever grateful for the community at Big Power for inspiring me to pursue teaching.
Before moving to Austin in 2017, I had my sights set on pursuing my 300-hour certification, but constraints and unforeseen expectations from my professional career delayed my pursuit. Following my move to Austin, I stayed committed to my practice both on and off my mat, a practice I fostered with the tools from 200-hour teacher training, and eventually expanded my physical practice to include YoStrong. I participated in Wanderlust’s inaugural YoStrong Teacher Training in the spring of 2018 and, with the encouragement of former Wanderlust instructor Lizzie Brown, began instructing YoStrong in the fall of 2018. In 2020, I experienced a shift in my professional career that enabled me to remain in Austin and finally sign up and complete 300-hour Advanced Teacher Training with Gioconda Parker.
Outside of my full-time job and yoga, I enjoy attending live sporting events (tennis, F1, basketball, Longhorn Athletics – to name a few), splurging on sushi and boba, hanging out with my barking kiddos – Dobby and Mushu, reading/listening to Brene Brown’s work, and mentoring at UT – my alma mater.
I want you to experience your best practice yet, so join me on your mat – at the studio or virtually!
