Kat Whitney

👋 I am Kat Whitney

Kathryn Whitney, Ed. M., E-RYT, YACEP, CLC
Executive Director
The New Dharma
Yoga Institute of the Berkshires.

Mama, yogini, lifelong equestrian and snow-seeker, I share yoga as a tool for living powerfully with a naturally busy human mind and a body that craves the fullness of its kinesthetic blueprint. I write and educate about life, wellness, yoga and the dharma via my blog, social media, weekly classes, integrative workshops and Yoga Alliance™ certified yoga teacher trainings.

With 30 years on the mat, I am an experienced yoga instructor, life coach, teacher training and administrator in both academic and spiritual settings. It has been an honor to serve as studio director at Sruti Yoga Center, Ananda Shanti Yoga, Bikram Yoga Ipswich and Ipswich River Yoga and as a senior instructor at Zen Athletica in Boston, Yoga Sakti, Treetop Yoga and Yoga Great Barrington. I lead Yoga Alliance™ certified yoga teacher trainings and continuing education programs through the New Dharma and the Yoga Institute of the Berkshires.  I am an adjunct teacher in asana and philosophy at yoga teacher trainings throughout New England.

I hold an M. Ed. from Harvard University where I did research in developmental neurobiology and certified as an instructor and department head in English and History at the secondary level. I trained as a Life Coach with iPEC (Institute for Professional Excellence in Coaching) and hold multiple yoga certifications from the Yoga College of India, the Baptiste Institute, Prana Vayu Yoga, and Anusara Yoga.  I am an initiated Tantrika in Neelakantha meditation and have received White Tara Empowerment in the Dzogchen Buddhist Tantrik lineage

It is a sacred honor to work in the world as a teacher and coach. Helping people recognize their innate freedom, agency and power in the world is the focus of my life’s work, study and practice. I look forward to being with you as you consider your next steps toward personal expansion and awareness.
