Ferny Barcelo

Ferny cultivates a class experience that welcomes every body and experience level onto the mat. Both fiery and full of heart, Ferny's classes teach students how to move with the ebbs & flows of life, using the fluidity of vinyasa yoga as a blueprint. With an attention to breath, presence, philosophy, and rhythmic sequencing, Ferny creates a space that allows her students to compassionately explore their inner landscape, as well as honor and strengthen their physical bodies.

Ferny completed her 200hr training with the very first Wanderlust teacher training (now YTX Austin) under Gioconda Parker and Erin Dudley from Kula Yoga Project NYC. From there, she has gone on to learn & train under teachers such as Jason Crandell, Ana Forrest, and most notably, her teacher and mentor, Janet Stone.

Alongside 500+ hours of training, Ferny completed a 100-hour training with Janet in Ubud, Bali, where she continued her education in vinyasa sequencing, alignment, mantra, bhakti yoga, meditation, and Ayurvedic practices. This was supplemented by a 50-hour training focused on the Five Elements, a 25-hour Intuitive Sequencing training, and culminated in a 300hr intensive at Esalen, in Big Sur, California. Most recently, Ferny traveled with Janet to Chennai, India in December of 2019, to deepen her studies of the Hindu religion, culture, and the devotional practices of yoga.

Ferny has gone on to assist and facilitate 75, 200, and 300hr yoga teacher trainings for YTX Austin (formerly Wanderlust Yoga), as well as run multiple workshops, mentorship, and group programs. She is also a trained and licensed therapist, running her own full-time private psychotherapy practice for women.
