👋 I am Erika Halweil
Erika Halweil was first exposed to the practices of yoga in 1993, although, it wasn’t until 1996 that she truly focused her attention on the endless journey into the present moment. In 1998, Erika began teaching a free-form vinyasa practice (inspired by the many traditions to which she had been exposed). Her curiosity and longing eventually led her to the practice of Ashtanga Yoga. Her body, heart, mind and breath were immediately captivated by this extraordinarily supportive, cleansing and clarifying practice. Her experiential understanding of this system has been integrated into her vast knowledge and multi-disciplinary studies of the human body, breath and mind. Through this evolving understanding, she hopes to encourage everyone to commit to making their yoga practice an integral, and lasting, part of their daily life.
Erika has furthered her knowledge of the human body through the study of nutrition (with a degrees from NYU and IIN), anatomy and physiology, Ayurveda and Reflexology.
She is, wholeheartedly grateful for all of her teachers - to Tim Miller, Eddie Stern and Corey De Rosa for sharing their commitment, dedication and passion for tradition and practice; to William Prottengeier for his well-informed, supercharged precision; to Dr. M.A. Jayashree and Professor M.A. Narasimham for their heartfelt and direct teachings on chanting and Classical Yoga Philosophy; to Bob Roth for his kindness, friendship and pure transmission of the practice of Transcendental Meditation (as shared by his beloved teacher, Maharishi Mahesh Yogi).
She is also grateful to the many people who have shared their practice and journey with her - may our travels and explorations never end.
