Alex Wonnell

Alex believes that a daily meditation practice is one of the most effective ways to reduce suffering and increase fulfillment in one’s life.  One of his core teaching principles is meeting students wherever they are, essentially allowing the wisdom of the individual to lead the way.  All you need is an object of focus and a way to focus on that object, with compassion and kindness.  At times humorous and playful, Alex would like to impart a confidence in his students that they can make meditation part of their lives, held up by community, safety, and dedication.  He hopes to contribute to the merging of contemplative practice and science, as seen in the modern evolution of the field today.

Alex has been an active member of Sangha Studio since 2017 and has been practicing different forms of mindfulness for over 8 years. He has completed an 8 week Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) Course at St. Michael’s College and has studied with Shinzen Young, founder of the Unified Mindfulness system (UM), at the Center for Mindful Learning in Lowell, Vermont. He is a 2020 graduate of UM's Pathways Teacher Training program and is a UM L2 Certified Mindfulness Coach.  He’s currently taking the Compass C1 Level Training with UM through 2022.  Alex has been teaching meditation at the studio since Fall 2019.
