Create An Experience with Your Replay Library

As your Org grows on Union, your replay library will too. While you want a variety of classes for your people to watch, you also want it to be easy to navigate. We call this a user experience and it’s an important piece of your brand strategy.

A user’s experience will not only decide their retention rate but their likelihood of recommending you to friends and family. With a clean and easy-to-navigate replay library you’ll continue to win over your people creating customer loyalty, which is what we’re all after at the end of the day.

How do you create a great user experience when it comes to your replay library? By getting into your customer’s heads and thinking about how they would interact with your replay library.

Update the Names of Videos + Descriptions

Once a class has been recorded and saved to the library, you have the ability to go in and make edits to that specific video that won’t interfere with future performances. (You can even update individual upcoming performances!)

The name of each video should reflect what’s happening in the class. The keywords you use will show up in search results and will help your people decide between multiple classes. Is your class fast-paced or slow and easy? Does it focus on a particular subject, theme, area of the body, or philosophy? Is there a peak posture you’re working towards that your people might be searching for? Come up with a concise title that will reflect what’s happening in the video. Here are a few examples we’ve seen in the replay library:
  • Yoga Flow for Low Back Pain
  • 8 Limbs of Yoga: Santosha
  • Vinyasa: Build Tension
  • Vin/Yin: You Don't Need To Rush

Ohana Yoga + Barre's Descriptions provide keywords that will help their students find the right class.

Once you’ve got a title for your video you’ll want to update the description too. Mention in there what props a student might need for the class, the level of experience recommended for this class, and how hard of a workout they should expect. You’ll also want to include keywords that your people might use to find this video. Think of the different poses, philosophies, breath work, meditations and so on that are happening within the class and incorporate those words into your description.

Remember to use words that apply directly to this video so that when your people are making a search the most relevant videos appear. You want them to get exactly what they are looking for, so make it easy on them.

Update Your Branding

Another aspect of your replays you can update is the thumbnail. Using systems like Canva is an easy way to create a template and update it based on class style, teacher, or include the exact title or theme of the class. Branding your tiles turns your library into an experience. By color-coordinating classes, you also make it easier for students to identify the class they’re looking for.

Delete Old Videos

When you first get started on Union your primary goal is usually to build up a library. You want to have a variety of videos for your people to look through and experience. Because of this, we often think that more is better. But in reality, having thousands of videos in your replay library can feel overwhelming to your people and make it harder to sort through. We suggest going through your old videos and deleting ones that don’t perform well, aren’t the highest possible quality, or seem old and outdated.

While every Org is different we think a library of no more than 500 videos is a great place to be. This provides your people with plenty of options in a variety of styles and/or teachers, while not overwhelming them. Of course, you can always choose to go over that but once you start building your library up, focus on quality over quantity.
