Yin is a deeply rejuvenating style of yoga derived from a Taoist model. It is a natural complement to more active, yang, yoga practices as the postures are held longer to target the connective tissues (fascia, muscles, tendons, bones, joints, ligaments.) By gently stretching these tissues, the practice can improve overall flexibility, increase mobility, and support joint heath. As a slow, grounding practice it stimulates the flow of energy along the body’s meridian passageways nourishing and revitalizing our organ systems, providing an overall sense of well-being. Aside from the Yin poses, classes may also include guided meditation and some gentle flowing movement to integrate the energetic benefits.
