In this alignment-based posture lab, we will focus on the benefits of twisting poses and inversions and how they align with the 8th Limb, Samadhi. After a brief explanation of Samadhi (enlightenment/bliss) and an opening prayer of intention, we will use two blocks, three blankets, a strap, wall, and chair to deepen our understanding, move the congested energy in the spine and calm the nervous system. The sequence includes: Downward Facing Dog (Adho Mukha Svanasana), Low Lunge Twist (Parivrtta Anjaneyasana), Folded Forward Bend (Uttansana), Warrior 3 (Virabhadrasana) variation with a leg on the wall, Pyramid Pose (Parsvottanasana), Shoulder Opener with chair, Twisting Triangle (Parivrtta Trikonasana) with a chair, Lunge with a twist, Twisting Half Moon Pose (Parivrtta Ardha Chandrasana), Twisting Triangle Pose (Parivrtta Trikonasana), Camel Pose (Ustrasana), Twisting pose on a chair, Forward bend with a chair, Shoulder Stand (Salamba Sarvangasana), meditation with Gayatri Mantra and an Hasta Mudra, Corpse Pose (Savasana) and a closing prayer of gratitude.
