Fat Yoga: Yoga for Plus-Size is for anyone who identifies as fat or being in a plus-sized body. Our fat yoga teachers use their yoga training and experiences as fat yoga students and teachers to facilitate class through accessible instruction, asana labs, and discussion. There will be accessible cues, transition variations, and the use of props such as blocks, bolsters, straps, chairs, and the wall to support your practice. The philosophy of class is steeped in the principles of Health at Every Size (HAES), like joyful movement and ditching diet culture. We strive to empower students to become more confident in using props, modifying poses, taking up space, and adapting the practice to their bodies, not the other way around.

One of the driving factors of this class is to create a space where folks who identify as being in a plus-size body and/or who identify as fat can come together in community. A place where there isn't anything that you have to change about yourself or your body. Where you can take a step away from the constant messages of diet culture, from the assumptions that are often placed on folks who live in bodies like ours and let yourself simply be, to take up the space you so deserve to take up. To find joyful movement in your yoga practice. To be in community. We are so excited for you to join us.
