Jane Pottmeyer (she/her)
Jane (she/her) is a cisgender, white, able-bodied, neurodiverse yoga teacher who is living on Abenaki land in Vermont. Jane is both a yoga teacher, a forever student, and a person who values practices that invite exploration, inquiry, and self care.
Finding yoga was the deepest sigh of Jane's life. For once, she felt like she had agency over her body, mind, & heart. She could finally tune into the present moment, staying there long enough to develop a playful curiosity and find relief from the trials of life and an ongoing inner chatter. By empowering her nervous system to shift away from old patterns of over-efforting, she found tools that helped her to slow down; listen in; and find peace. Yoga has offered her profound healing through the various teachings and limbs of Yoga. These tools continue to help her navigate life's complexities and invite her into a heart space of inner listening & peace.
Jane's classes provide a safe & supportive environment where all are welcome and where you are encouraged to show up just as you are. You will move within shapes that fit your unique body to stretch, strengthen, & play with balance. You are invited to explore your own boundaries of effort & ease; grounding & opening; compassion & stillness; and a place to come together in community. Jane loves using yoga props and encourages others to explore their use to both enhance and help make poses more accessible. She believes each person's body is their own best teacher and asks that you listen in to your own body cues taking what you need from the class and leaving the rest. Class begins with a short discussion & breath practices followed by stretching that leads into more movement before winding down to rest.
Jane has been teaching Yoga since the fall of 2019 after completing her 200hr Hatha Yoga Teacher Training with Yoga Roots VT. She fell in love with the practices of both Slow Flow & Restorative Yoga and earned her certifications in 2020. Jane is currently enrolled and in the middle of her 300hr YTT. She came to Sangha 3 years ago to begin subbing classes and can be found on Sunday mornings assisting the lovely Joann Engleberth in her Gentle Yoga classes where Jane demonstrates poses for those online and offers Reiki at the end of class. She is grateful for container of warmth that Sanga holds both with its teachers and practioners that comprise this wonderful community at Sangha Studio.
Jane loves spending time with her friends, family, their dog, rooster, & 5 chickens. Next to yoga, downhill skiing is her next favorite way to move.
