Caro Sheehan (any pronouns)

Hi! My name is Caro/Caroline/CJ and I use any pronouns (they/she/he). I am a white, gender-fluid, anarchist living with chronic pain.

I have been physically practicing yoga since my parents took me to a class when I was eight years old in 2005. Although since then I had encountered yoga in spiritual spaces such as church, it wasn't until 2012 that I was exposed to the depth of yoga’s philosophical roots. I found Sangha in 2018 when I was a student at UVM. In June 2022 I completed a 200 hour yoga teacher certification and in January 2023 I completed a 15 hour restorative certification both through Sangha.

I am constantly amazed by the vast, rich, and complex philosophy and history of yoga. I am still skimming the surface and probably will be my whole life. I believe that it is my duty to share this learning in the classes I teach. As a teacher I am very much a "learn with you" kind of guy. I LOVE learning from my students. I encourage any information, suggestions, challenges, questions, and stories my students are open to sharing with me and each other.

Although on occasion I do love a rigorous flow, I find that my body and mind incorporate learning best in slow flow and especially restorative classes. Therefore, these are my favorite classes to teach. My goals as a teacher are to assist people in accessing the yoke of breath, body, and spirit, and to honor the tradition that yoga comes from.

I’m originally from Illinois. I love my friends and family and spending as much time with them as possible. They live all over the place so I like traveling to see them. I have a bearded dragon named Bob. I’m passionate about abolition and racial justice, food, and spending time with nature.
