"Simplicity is Profound, Basics are Essential"
In our complex and demanding world, we can re-establish our connection to the basic principles of Yoga, essential to our well-being. Foundational postures reveal our potential, heal our wounds and strengthen our resolve to move forward with confidence.

Join Nikki for an hour of practice and explore the fundamentals of Iyengar Yoga that all levels of practice are built on.

Objectives:
Nikki guides the class through a series of asanas, focusing on prasarita padottanasana (wide-l and back arches. She provides detailed instructions on proper alignment, emphasizing the importance of engaging the legs, lifting the chest, and maintaining balance between opposing forces. The class progresses through various hand positions, including paschima namaskarasana and paschima baddhanguliyasana, to enhance the back arch. Nikki also guides students through adho mukha svanasana (downward-facing dog) and adho mukha vrksasana (handstand), offering modifications for those who need them. Throughout the session, she provides individual feedback to students, helping them refine their poses and improve their technique.

Working with props:
Students were asked to place the belt at their wrist, bottom of the elbow, and top of the elbow, and then stretch their arms as far apart as possible. They were encouraged to observe and articulate the sensations they felt in each position. The exploration of different belt positions was seen as a valuable tool for personal practice and teaching.
