After moving to Tribeca eighteen years ago, I stumbled upon a premie Kula on the way to the train. I went, was hands down hooked by the first hip opener, and the rest is history. I started teaching at Kula in 200...
(Suggested props: 2 blocks (2 foam or 1 foam and 1 cork/wood if you have) and if you like having a blanket for your knees grab it for quad stretches!)

I had the pleasure of having Alex Auder appear in this class. A dame known for her fervor for disrobing in public, she is also a long time old school teacher of Kula and of Yoga generally. First you will get to see her panties and a plug for her latest brand, and then you will lay the foundation for thoracic mobility with the arms in the overhead plane. This action will then appear in extended side angle, side plank into a slow and delicious backbend, and other general backbends such as full wheel. You will end class with supine hip opening, working with the shapes of sukhasana or ardha padmasana (half lotus). Side note: Alex, Schuyler and I are leading A Jungle Throuple week-long retreat to Costa Rica April 2-9. COME!

(Int/Adv) Kula Flow is vinyasa (or flow) style yoga with an emphasis on creativity and alignment. Classes are inventive and thoughtful sequences of sun salutations, standing & seated postures, back bending, and inversions—guided by a steady breath to tone and calm the mind. Most teachers also use bandha work to open and strengthen the inner body. (Classes differ in tone and vigor depending on the teacher, so if you have special needs/interests please contact [email protected]) For students with a regular yoga practice.
