Sirsasana (sirsa meaning head) or headstand is known as the 'king of inversions'. For many of us, that king is out to get us, shouting 'off with their head!', when a proper alignment breakdown might be the ticket to get off the chopping block. Part flow, part workshop, Kathryn will warm up the necessary areas of your body with chest openers and strengtheners, sun salutations, core work, dolphins, and detailed alignment cues to give you a safe and effective foundation for both regular and tripod headstand.

Props: wall space and a block, optional strap or towel

Postures include: chest opener on block, cat and cow, puppy dog, scapula push-ups, cat and cow, thread-the-needle, thoracic openers, sun salutation A, dolphin, sun salutation B, humble warrior, chair with shoulder opener, warrior i with goal post arms, reclined core, sirsasana A + B prep, dolphin and tripod dolphin at wall, pada hastasana, supported bridge, savasana or seated meditation.
