Yin Yoga is a non-impact, restorative practice where we emphasize stillness, relaxing into postures, and stretching both the deep connective tissues between the muscles and the fascia throughout the body. It is an all body practice and accessible to all levels of experience in yoga. Yin yoga is ideal for those seeking a meditative, calming practice. It is also a vital practice to balance out the wear and tear of tissues experienced by athletes and other very active people. The aim is to increase circulation in the joints and improve flexibility as the poses stretch and exercise the bone and joint areas. Yin Yoga invites you to slow down and create space for stillness in both mind and body. In this class, poses are held for 3-5 minutes, for slow release and nourishment to the connective tissues of the body—the tendons, fascia, and ligaments—with the goal to increase circulation in the joints and improve flexibility.
