Full Moon Ritual & Practice: Persephone Spell Jar

Aired -

Autumn Equinox (September 23rd) marks the slow decent into darkness, reminiscent of Persephone’s return to the Greek underworld. Which is why we’re making a Persephone Spell Jar: the perfect way to bottle our shine from the summer, and keep that deep inside us as we step into the introspective darkness of fall and winter. Kathryn will open by casting the circle followed by meditation and guidance on making your jar.

30 minutes

Tools needed:
  • 1 small glass jar (roughly 10 mL) with a cork stopper
  • 1 black candle
  • 6 dried pomegranate seeds
  • 6 fresh pomegranate seeds
  • 1 match
  • Small piece of paper
  • Pen
  • 1 tsp grains (rice, wheat, millet, corn, etc)
  • Small pieces of jet or obsidian
  • Dried flowers (Daffodil, if possible)
  • Small bone (optional)
  • A protected surface (we will be melting wax and pouring items into a small jar, so a large piece of paper or a tray to catch fragments will make for easier clean up)

  • Cleansing smoke such as sage, palo santo, or incense
  • Optional: symbols of fire (lit candle), water (bowl of water), air (incense, feather, sacred smoke), and earth (salt, rocks, crystals, plants)
