It's All Me

The sensations you experience during birth are not something that someone is doing to you. It is your own body working hard to open and birth your baby. As I prepared to welcome my second child, I found a lot of comfort in the following affirmation: My contractions can’t be stronger than me because they are me. Chant this affirmation silently (or out loud) whenever fear or anxiety creep in about your birth.

This class is also designed for anyone experiencing Carpal Tunnel Syndrome or wrist sensitivities; there are no weight-bearing poses in the hands. We begin with a gentle seated sequence to warm the spine, side body and major joints. Downward dog is replaced with dolphin pose followed by a kneeling backbend to eliminate any pressure on the wrists. Enjoy modified sun salutations and a creative balancing and strengthening sequence of tree pose and squats with an energetic, heart-opening burst. Class ends with centering pranayama and a supine sequence to release the lower back and strengthen the core.
