Vinyasa 90: A Psoas Study
Today we focus on the often overstretched/overlooked psoas, aka the primary movers of the hip flexor. This group of muscles quite literally holds the top and bottom halves of our bodies together and many of us are unaware of how much they do to mitigate pain and enable movement. Class begins on the back with instructions on how to physically locate your psoas major. We then move through supine, seated, and kneeing strengthening exercises and finally peak in a standing sequence that will both lengthen and strengthen. We spend lots of time on the ground at the close of class, focusing on relaxation and release. Please grab two blocks and a booster or rolled blanket, move with Bill and the tunes.
