In this classical hatha yoga practice, students will flow through a set series of asanas linked together with breath.

Ashtanga Yoga is based on and around the tristhana method: Ujjayi pranayama (breath), asana (posture & bandhas), and dristhi (gazing point). This method actively draws the senses inward, transforming the physical asana practice into a moving meditation. Students will be taken through half of the Primary Series which includes sun salutations, standing & seated postures, backbends, and inversions. The pace is dynamic and steady. Ashtanga is traditionally practiced without music so the focus is on the meditative flow of breath and movement (vinyasa). Mantras are chanted at the beginning and end of practice. Come prepared to breathe and move.
