Our stress levels are higher than ever, and the quality of our sleep is at stake. In these times of
the COVID-19 pandemic and endemic, drifting off into deep states of sleep may be elusive,
leading us to wonder if we will ever get over "coronasomnia."
In each session of the series, Pamela will review how the overwhelm so many of us are experiencing can contribute to insomnia, and she willl offer yoga practices to decrease our collective tension and support our individual ability to rest and relax.
Nearly one-third of Americans are sleep deprived according to the Centers for Disease Control
and Prevention. Other studies have linked the lack of sleep to depression, a weaker immune
system, memory and cognition issues, as well as obesity, high blood pressure and fatigue. The
CDC calls this pervasive lack of sleep a "public health epidemic.”
In this workshop series, participants will learn more about the root causes of sleep deprivation,
the effects of insomnia, how lifestyle impacts all of it and how diet, yoga, meditation and other
yoga techniques can help. We will explore evidence-based yoga tools to combat sleep
deprivation and fatigue, as well as regulate the nervous system and activate the vagus nerve.
These workshops will include intake/assessment, breathwork, meditation, journaling, reflection; contemplation, and asana, along with other yogic tools. Each participant will finish the series with a toolbox of options for approaching their own self care, rest, and sleep in a profound way.
No prior yoga experience is needed.
