This event has ended.
A once-a-month class for intermediate/advanced students.
In Sanskrit, Japa generally refers to repetition and is usually used in regard to the repeating of a mantra as a form of deep meditation. In Japa Vinyasa, we slowly build a longer and longer repeating sequence of yoga poses that becomes the mantra itself. As the sequence grows and gets repeated, muscle memory allows the mind to focus more intensely on the connection between the breath and the body. This creates a practice that is very physical and, at the same time, a potentially deep meditation. By the end of class, we are moving, one breath one move, through a long, familiar flow that will challenge the body, mind and breath in a delightfully fun way that is likely unlike any yoga practice you have experienced. The sequence varies with every class. I learned this unique and challenging form of Vinyasa from Gillian Anderson at Minnehaha Yoga Studio in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
