(CANCELED) Dharma Vinyasa Practice

-

at Studio (961 Route 2 Middlesex, VT 05602)

This is an intermediate class for advanced beginners through intermediate level. If you feel comfortable in the all-levels classes at the studio and would like to take the next step, this class is perfect for you. We will begin with a warm up that will prepare the body for the more challenging Dharma vinyasa and then do a few of those together. From there we will move into a standing vinyasa flow. The standing flow is based on Sri Dharma Mittra's third series and will remain the same for each class. As you are beginning to deepen your practice, it can be very beneficial to work on the same sequence over and over again. This is a challenging flow with challenging transitions, but it is easily adaptable when first learning the sequence. Adaptations for all poses and transitions will be given as you begin to learn the flow. As your repeat the sequence, the body begins to understand what to expect and the mind relaxes. You grow stronger through the transitions and as your flexibility deepens, you develop strength in the outer range of your flexibility, which is so important for joint stability and injury prevention. After the standing flow, the class will vary weekly through the balancing, seated and inversion portion of the class. After savasana, we will come to seated, work through a few breathing exercises and end with a brief meditation.

I have been practicing Dharma yoga for over 12 years and I particularly love the series III standing flow. It has become the base of my practice and is the springboard for everything I aspire to in my asana practice. I hope you will join me in learning this sequence.
