Yoga of 12-Step Recovery uses discussion, asana, pranayama and meditation to explore addiction and recovery within the body/mind continuum.

It weaves together the wisdom of yoga and the practical tools of 12-Step programs. It is a rich and powerful framework designed to inspire compassionate awareness, change and healing.

We meet weekly to use the tools and principles of the 12-Step program and yoga to address the physical, mental and spiritual dis-ease of addiction.

About Angie:

My first yoga class took place on a college campus in 1990, and now more than 30 years later, my practice has evolved from a fitness choice to a lifestyle staple.

On the mat I am challenged physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually. And connected like I have never felt before. Yoga has taught me to face life’s challenges differently. To listen to the signals in my body and “pause when agitated.”
As a person in longtime recovery from alcohol, drugs - and all the things - yoga has been a lifeline in slowing down the brain chatter and finding the middle path - the wisdom to know the difference.

I began teaching yoga in 2016 after certifying with Evolve Yoga & Wellness in Sioux City, and am studying for a 500 hour CYT through My Vinyasa Practice in Austin, Texas.
My passion is rooted in combining recovery concepts and the physical yoga practice, which brought me to certify as a Yoga for 12-Step Recovery (Y12SR) space holder, and Success Over Addiction and Relapse (S.O.A.R) teacher.

My hope is to open up to students a greater appreciation for the long view of yoga, and a more compassionate view of themselves and others. I look forward to sharing the magic of Yoga of 12-Step Recovery with all!
