There are only two ways that we can manipulate our muscles in Classical Yoga Asana.  One is stretching.  One is contracting.  Often times the stretching is prioritized and overly emphasized. But over time, solely stretching our muscles without adequate cross training can leave our muscles weak and hurting.

Increasing overall strength improves bone density, reducing hormonal imbalance, improves sleep and resting heart rate.
