Webinar Format (During program sessions, you will be able to see and hear the teacher, but you cannot see or hear other program participants).

Insight meditation (vipassana) is the simple and direct practice of moment-to-moment mindfulness. Through careful and sustained observation, we experience for ourselves the ever-changing flow of the mind/body process. This awareness leads us to accept more fully the pleasure and pain, fear and joy, sadness and happiness that life inevitably brings. As insight deepens, we develop greater equanimity and peace in the face of change, and wisdom and compassion increasingly become the guiding principles of our lives.

Awakening is not outside of daily life. Our daily life is our practice – especially when we “retreat” in our homes. This is a whole life path, and home retreats may offer many new insights into how our lives unfold and manifest in the world.

An optional daily session of mindful movement will be offered by Sabra Saperstein

It will consist of talks, guided meditations and Q&A. Beginning and more experienced meditators are welcome.

Fees:
For this course, sliding scale fees are $160, $260, or $400. We also offer a scholarship fee of $80, and no-fee enrollment for those who request a fee-waiver. Our “Pay What You Can Afford" system supports the cultivation of a dynamic and inclusive community and contributes to the health and vibrancy of the sangha. Email [email protected] for more information or to request a scholarship or no-fee enrollment.

A note on dana (generosity)
Most IMS teachers—like insight teachers around the world—rely on the generosity of students for their livelihood, and receive no compensation from course fees. All IMS online teachers receive a modest dana advance from IMS to guarantee a minimum level of financial support. (Click here to learn more about the dana practice.) There will be an opportunity to offer a contribution to your teachers at the end of this course.
