(In Person, Online & Recorded)

Yoga provides specific tools by which to find more health & freedom in daily life and teaches profound philosophical tenets. The gunas are one such teaching; the gunas are three universal energies that inform every aspect of our inner and outer lives.

This workshop will teach how to recognize the gunas in your life experience and work with them masterfully both in yoga practice and in daily activities. Each session includes a theoretical presentation and experiential practice.

Four-Part Series

  1. Introduction to the Gunas - Fri. Nov. 12,  6pm - 9pm
Gain a foundational understanding of Samkhya yoga philosophy and what part the gunas play in this great map of the creation.

  2. Creating the Energy of Stability -  Sat. Nov. 13, 12:30pm - 3:30pm
Learn to apply the force of tamas guna for inner stability.  Tamas, applied appropriately, can also serve as a foundation for meditation.

  3. Work Skillfully with the Energy of Activity - Sat. Nov. 13, 3:30pm-6:30pm
At no moment are we completely still.  As we sleep our heart pulses. And our culture  places a premium on being busy. Teach yourself to recognize what actions are worthwhile, and which are not, and how to use asana as a tool to manage your energy.

  4. Approach the Energy of Purity - Sun. Nov. 14, 9am - 12pm
Satva–the force of light and insight– is as distinct as it is subtle.  It is often the most overlooked aspect of contemporary yoga practice. Learn to cultivate this unique energy in your practice and over time.
