Almost every yoga asana (pose) requires strength and stability. Inversions, twists, standing and balancing poses require abdominal strength. The core muscles are pivotal in posture, balance and spinal stability. They harmonize the upper and lower body movements, allowing you to practice various poses with steadiness and grace.
In this workshop, we’ll dive into our core, starting with pranayama (breath work), then continue to explore and work through a variety of core building poses including, but not limited, to plank (side and reverse), boat, chair and warrior II, among others.
You will practice and learn specific yoga poses that will target and strengthen the deep core muscles including, but not limited to, the rectus and transverse abdominis, obliques, quadratus lumborum and pelvic floor. You will leave feeling refreshed, invigorated and with a sense of well-being.
This workshop is for those who are looking to build functional strength in the core muscles through yoga asana (poses) and therefore limit the risk of injury.
We’ll end with a period of relaxation and meditation.
