Secular Spirituality: Tools for Connection in an Isolating World

Secular Spirituality: Tools for Connection in an Isolating World

Registration is closed, but please check other Boston Yoga School Events

With Ame Wren & Special Guests

This course explores secular forms of spirituality such as meditation, communing with nature, crafting ritual and creating sacred space through historical and cultural lenses. Through spiritual and philosophical readings (as well as through their critics), reflections & contemplations and peer-to-peer sharing, students will learn to inquire after forms of deeper connection in themselves and in the world around them. Students will also investigate how to find greater purpose in a world increasingly digitized and bereft of human-to-human relationships. Having a spiritual practice is linked to greater resilience and human flourishing in personal, professional and civic spaces. This course will offer new ways of understanding spirituality and an overview of related concepts.

We will meet on zoom, synchronously. Recordings are only available to registered participants in special circumstances. This course will be run much like an academic course in that there will be outside assignments weekly*. In service of creating a community, this class will be limited in size and live attendance and outside preparation is expected.

*this class does NOT include yoga asana but a membership can be purchased the alumni price for any participant.
