Making Space for Every Body in Your Yoga Class
-
at Blossom Main Studio (2nd Floor)
(7 Main St.
Suite 204
Montpelier, VT
05602)
For Yoga teachers and interested public
$20-35 sliding scale
In this 2-hour workshop for yoga teachers and interested public, Cassandra Hemenway (CYT 500) will demonstrate how certain cues may unintentionally exclude yogis in larger bodies. In this workshop you will learn how to make your studio and your classes welcoming and inclusive to students in all bodies. We'll dive deep into inclusive cueing ideas, and explore how to transition into poses in a manner that accounts for a full body, stiff knees, etc. We'll talk about both welcoming and unwelcoming language, and small acts in your studio space that can make people of different sizes and abilities feel welcome.
Meet Cassandra Hemenway: Your Body-Inclusive Vinyasa Guide
Cassandra Hemenway is dedicated to fostering an inclusive atmosphere in her vinyasa
classes, welcoming yogis of all shapes and sizes. After completing her 200-hour training
with Chrissy LeFavour at Grateful Yoga in 2022, she deepened her knowledge with a
300-hour training under Susanna Barkataki of Ignite Yoga, fully embracing the 8-limbed
path of Patanjali.
Yoga has been a transformative practice for Cassandra, helping her navigate the world
on and off the mat. By celebrating her journey as a larger-sized yogi, she emphasizes
body-inclusive cuing that empowers her students to embrace their individuality.
In her classes, you can look forward to a nurturing experience that begins with an
opening meditation, includes pranayama, mantra, and flows into dynamic asana
practice. Cassandra’s warm and friendly style creates a supportive environment where
everyone can explore their practice freely.
Join Cassandra on the mat for a joyful journey that honors all bodies and cultivates a
deeper connection to yourself!
