Ayuryoga® is a unique system of physical asanas (poses), pranayama (breathwork), and meditation developed by Dr. Vasant Lad, BAM&S, MASc. This practice integrates Ayurvedic principles to harness the therapeutic benefits of yoga, supporting healing at both individual and group levels.

Yoga and Ayurveda are often referred to as sister sciences, each enhancing the other. The ancient Vedic and yogic texts emphasize the importance of a sattvic lifestyle and proper nutrition to support yoga and meditation practices. Both systems recognize that imbalances in the body and mind result from impurities that obstruct the flow of prana (life force).

By incorporating Ayurvedic principles into diet and lifestyle and integrating yoga into our spiritual practice, Ayuryoga® helps clear these blockages, promoting optimal health and elevating consciousness. While many techniques in Ayuryoga®, such as asanas, breathing exercises, and meditation, may be familiar to those experienced in Hatha Yoga, the distinctive feature of Ayuryoga® lies in its application of Ayurvedic principles. This includes understanding the five great elements, the three doshas, and the twenty universal gunas (qualities) to tailor practices for optimal health and healing.

Course Highlights:
  • Basics of Ayurveda: Understand the five elements, three doshas, and the concept of agni.
  • Ayurvedic Perspective on Yoga: Learn to view pranayama, asanas, and meditation through an Ayurvedic lens.
  • Balancing Your Constitution: Use yoga to bring your body and mind into balance according to your dosha.
  • Ayuryoga Techniques: Explore eight specific pranayama practices and meditation techniques unique to this lineage, as taught by Dr. Vasant Lad.
  • Ayurvedic Anatomy: Discover how certain poses affect different tissue systems.
  • Daily Routine (Dinacharya): Incorporate Ayurveda and yoga into your daily life for overall well-being.
  • Diet and Lifestyle Recommendations: Learn simple practices to support your health.

Key Takeaways:
  • Discover specific poses tailored for Vata, Pitta, and Kapha doshas to integrate into your daily practice (sadhana).
