*Ashtanga for All

at Asheville Yoga Center (211 S. Liberty Street Asheville, NC 28803)

Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga follows a set sequence of asanas (postures), with a strong focus on pranayama (energy and breath). Syncing our breath with each movement, the practice flows in such a way to help the practitioner not only build strength and flexibility, but also mental calmness and inner peace. The most common sequence practiced around the world is the Primary Series (mainly the Full primary Series), while most beginners practice the "Half Primary" Series. In our Ashtanga For All class, we offer a progressive and modern form of the Half Primary, encouraging modified versions of the postures as well as use of supportive props like blocks or straps -- making the sequence accessible to all practice levels.

Hannah Keith, RYT 200, a Chicagoland native, began her movement journey over 25 years ago with dance and martial arts, which instilled in her a lifelong passion for movement and expression. Yoga found her in 2008, and she knew that she would study it for life. While she loves and respects all branches of yoga, she has fallen in love with the practice of Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga, and she's honored to bring the Ashtanga Half Primary Series to Asheville Yoga Center. In her classes, she is passionate about meeting each student exactly where they are, including offering modifications for all ages, walks of life, and skill level. Yoga really is for every body. She can’t wait to have you in class!
